Chocolate Molten Lava Cake is one of my favorite dessert to prepare and enjoy. It is extremely easy to put together in no time, and my go-to recipe when surprised by guests or want to indulge in something quick and easy. I always receive compliments when I serve this dessert and everyone becomes excited when they break into the hard shell exterior to see the tender and runny chocolate interior.
I’ve always had a frosting dilemma. I desired a creamy substance on my cakes but disliked the texture and the taste of the usual buttercream frosting. Yes, there are some not-so-sweet-and-crusty frosting recipes but they don’t have the right consistency for piping or contain eggs. But this is all history since I’ve innocently stumbled upon The Best Chocolate Frosting Ever! It’s everything ordinary frosting isn’t: smooth, rich, chocolaty, subtly sweet and has the perfect consistency for piping. It is more work than the traditional buttercream but well worth it.
Finally, my long search for The Perfect Chocolate Cake has come to an end and I proudly present these chocolate delights to you. The cake is so moist and fluffy, yet so dark and rich. The secret? Buttermilk and coffee! The acidity of the buttermilk gives this cake the desired moisture and the coffee brings out the natural flavor of the chocolate. Continue reading
